very cool simple script to have a nav bar that frees up the space at the top when scrolling. But always there when you need it.

Besides Turn off the lights feature I explained earlier, YouTube has more great stuff. I believe that you noticed “change view” feature which allows you to switch between normal and wide mode and thus expand/shrink movie area. I like this feature because in different circumstances, I need a different view. But the thing I like the most is that, although layout changes, it is done seamingly and all the information remains easily accessible.
Facelift Image Replacement (or FLIR, pronounced fleer) is an image replacement script that dynamically generates image representations of text on your web page in fonts that otherwise might not be visible to your visitors. The generated image will be automatically inserted into your web page via Javascript and visible to all modern browsers. Any element with text can be replaced: from headers (h1, h2, etc.) to span elements and everything in between!

It’s been a few months since we wrote about Startup Schwag, a service that sends users startup-branded tshirts and stickers every month.
You’ll either think this is lame (not target market) or so cool you’ve wet your pants (target market) and act accordingly. The first attempt at the model by Valleyschwag didn’t scale and folded. Startup Schwag isn’t relying on the companies to produce the stuff, though (that’s where Valleyschwag ran into trouble when they got too big), they do it themselves with the company’s permission.
The first mailing included a TechCrunch Tshirt, and one made its way to Lisa Brewster, who writes the blog Sophistechate. She posted the picture above to her blog a couple of days ago. Golf clap for Lisa, our new unofficial mascot. Another woman models the reddit tshirt here.
Founder Roddy Richards says the service is doing well and has 400 subscribers now paying $15 per month each.
Richards has also founded a startup called PriceAdvance. It was rejected by Y Combinator, but Richards used the money YC gave him to apply (travel expenses) to incorporate the company and get it going. It launched December 11 and is doing well, he says.

The guys and gals over at our sister blog Engadget were keeping busy at the recent CES and have turned up some interesting products with a Mac angle. In the video above they're checking out a new music instruction software package called Guitar Wizard which works a lot like the Guitar Hero game (our coverage). The key difference is that Guitar Wizard uses a real guitar and actually teaches you something about playing. The kit consists of the software and a midi pickup which can be attached to your own guitar for $150, or you can get a kit that includes a guitar as well for $300. New songs will be downloadable at 99 cents each.

When Lightbox 2.0.3 was just released I suddenly realised that we hadn’t posted about version 2 at all.
How does version 2 compare to the old faithful?
To group images into sets you simply put the set name in the rel attribute: rel=”lightbox[roadtrip]”.
Version 2.0.3 itself offers: “Improved keyboard navigation. Animation off toggle. Hides Flash movies under overlay. Imagemap support. Valid CSS.”
